Mousumi (Sumi) Chanda-Kim, M.D. is a board-certified internal medicine physician. She has over 20 years of experience treating patients in Austin and Central Texas. During her years as a physician, she has served as Chief of Staff at Seton Medical Center Hays, as well as Medical Director of Seton Southwest Hospital and Robinson Creek Hospice.
Dr. Chanda-Kim received her Bachelor of Arts, completing the Plan II Honors Program, from the University of Texas at Austin. She completed her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. She is a member of the Travis County Medical Society, Texas Medical Association, and the American College of Physicians, and is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine.
“It is my firm belief that the best way to practice medicine is to create and nurture a collaborative bond with the patient. This relationship is therapeutic, and leads to improved outcomes. When the patient and the physician focus on diligent care, and especially preventive care, it leads to longevity, but also to an improved quality of life," says Dr. Chanda-Kim.
When time allows, Dr. Chanda-Kim enjoys traveling and gourmet cooking. As a University of Texas supporter, she is an avid football fan. Live music is important to her husband, her son, and herself. Her son plays the tuba, her husband plays the drums, and the doctor herself plays violin, piano and a little bass guitar. She and her family love spending time with their pug, Bella.
